All Made Up, the latest exhibition at Trinity’s Hub Gallery, is a display of portraits, where the model’s own makeup is used instead of ordinary paint.

Running until the 28th of March, the work of Margit van der Zwan explores aspects of identity, posing questions about the “real” self and the “made-up” self.

When makeup is applied, it’s not just about changing how we look; it’s about changing the lens through which we view ourselves and how we interact with the world. The layers we put on our faces become metaphorical layers of our personalities, aspirations, and desires.

The exhibition opens up a conversation about how much of the “self” is really “made up,” and how much of it is authentic, or whether authenticity itself is even a concept we can hold onto in the age of self-curation.

Artist Margit van der Zwan trained at Central St Martins College of Art, London and Arte Sotto Un Tetto in Italy. She specialises in portraiture and children’s book illustration. While art is a big passion, Margit also performs as a cellist and singer. The current exhibition was partly inspired by spending time on the road with bands, where make-up and performance play a key role in the touring lifestyle.

The gallery is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am – 3pm.

AS PART of a commitment to the A Rocha Bronze Eco Church Award, Trinity made a promise to twin all its toilets.

By doing so, a project is funded in a community that helps families to build their own basic toilet, access clean water and learn about hygiene – a vital combination that saves lives.

With the opening of the newly refurbished Toll House, the Eco Group have found themselves with another toilet to twin – and have not rested on their laurels,

Nigeria was the chosen country, picked due to it being on the watch list of a Christian charity called Open Doors. Open Doors supports persecuted Christians by supplying Bibles, providing emergency relief and providing practical support.

As the team are well on with the submission for the Silver Award, they can now still say that ALL the toilets are twinned.

In the other Trinity spaces, toilets are twinned with ones in Afghanistan, DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Malawi, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia.
