What a wonderful morning we had involving young and old in our October Coffee Stop.
Christine’s ‘Pray as you Play’ craft table was the star of the show, as children made bird feeders and decorated pebbles and crocks, which were then placed in the Eco Community Garden.
Cody from Ribble Rivers Trust came along to talk about the organisation, but we soon put him to work, making holes in the monkey nuts for the bird feeders!
Our superb face-painter Eliza did some amazing designs on the little ones, creating quite a queue for her services and Artist Angela Baptie was in the Hub Gallery to welcome visitors for the first day of her exhibition, which has a focus on the landscape.
The cake stall had a special edition today as there were also some beautiful handmade Christmas decorations and stockings on sale. We also had a stall selling plants and Eco toilet rolls, not to mention the table giving away free self-watering plant spikes and plastic tubs. Waste not want not at our Eco Coffee Stop!
Hub Manager Carol asked everyone to give a round of applause and thanks for all the volunteers who help make each Coffee Stop happen. She also explained that the proceeds from the morning would go to Phase 2 of the Community Eco Garden.
She then passed the microphone to Hylda, who said a short prayer of thanks for the beautiful world around us, and asked God for his guidance as we better care for it.
All this as well as the usual jigsaws and Fairtrade, set to beautiful music by Steuart and Dorothy. No wonder Robert had to don his hi-vis to take control of the car park!
Tomorrow’s special service about Caring for God’s Earth, led by Peter Lumsden, will take place at the usual time of 10am. See you all there.
